La Zagaleta
On occupying a new territory a wise king must choose where to build his castle. First of all he will select the high ground, not too far from a civilized settlement with swift access to his fleet. He will require excellent sporting and hunting grounds, and a regular rich source of food. Once the site is selected he will surround it with high fortifications and post sentries at each entrance. La Zagaleta Country Club just fifteen minutes from the Sporting Marina of Puerto Banus ticks all of these boxes and what’s more only the select few who can afford a true kings ransom are able to live there.
Now recognized as Europe’s most exclusive Luxury address and the jewel of Marbella, La Zagaleta is the first choice of the discerning multi millionaire. Originally the estate was a home and hunting lodge for the infamous Adnan Khashoggi. Drawn by the exquisite micro climate and privacy he stocked the thousands of acres of pine forested mountainside with pheasant and deer and created trout and carp lakes.
More recently the Californian architect Bradford Benz was commissioned to create the first of two 18 hole golf courses. The breathtaking views, and stunning natural environment of the 72 par course make for an unforgettable golfing experience. The second course is now nearing completion. There is also an imaculatley kept driving range.
Khashoggi’s Palatial home with near by helicopter pad still remains but is now the estates stunning private clubhouse. As well as two restaurants there is a bowling alley, billiard room, wine bar and of course a pro shop.
Facilities on site also include a top equestrian centre with stabling for your own horses or use of the estates Arab and Spanish horses. There are even ponies for children. There is an indoor pistol range and a clay pigeon range, several tennis courts and fly-fishing lakes.
Perhaps the most valuable facility for Villa owners is total privacy - and this 2,000 acre enclave, is cloaked in discretion. The estate has only two entrances, both manned by armed security guards. This is an effective deterrent against all unwanted guests including estate agents.
Already 50% built out, the completed estate will comprise of 400 Luxury Villas, with 10-metre green buffer zones between plots and with such enviable security and services there is no shortage of buyers. These are no mere villas; they are palaces with guest houses, six-car garages, swimming pools, servants quarters. Saunas and gymnasiums are on a par with the best leisure centers and when a home is described as having a stunning view they are referring to the green quilted valley that tumbles southerly down into the Mediterranean and Africa beyond.
The term “lifestyle” is often overused, in future for lifestile see “la Zagaleta” .
